On this album, Sylvia played keyboards on "Phunt Walk" as guest musician.
The Unclaimed were a 60's-retro-garage-punk outfit that started out in Los Angeles in the early 1980's. Think Seeds, MC5, "Nuggets" compilation type music. With an energetic stage show and strong line-up (various members would later branch out into the Longryders, the Droogs, Yard Trauma, Thee Forgiven) they made a splash quickly after their arrival in the L.A. scene. From around 1982 to 1984, the 60's-influence was riding a peak in L.A. And yet the Unclaimed were largely overlooked in the "Paisley Underground" scene. Bands with a more broad appeal, like Dream Syndicate, Rain Parade, and Three O'Clock, passed them by, while Unclaimed band leader Shelley Ganz stuck stubbornly to his roots in the very specific subset of garage punk. There are some who admire his purism, however. I get occasional requests and questions about the Unclaimed to this very day, despite that band having been inactive for over 25 years.
